College Edition
by Olivia Cappolella
After a nice, long summer of traveling and relaxing, my sophomore year at Ithaca College has finally begun. Despite the stress of move-in and new classes, there is a lot for me to look forward to in this school year. From swimming in Ithaca's many dams and waterfalls to adventuring and hiking miles through the woods, the daytime fun is practically never ending, while the weekend nights are filled with going out with friends and meeting new people. For downtime, there is a lot of time spent in my cozy apartment with my friends, watching movies and entertaining ourselves. So, to summarize, there is a lot to look forward to when moving back to college.
This year, I was very fortunate to be granted an on-campus apartment, which makes college life so much easier than living in a dorm room. There are a lot of perks that come along with living outside of the dorms. First of all, I get to have my car on campus, which makes transportation a lot cheaper and a lot easier. Also, my apartment includes a kitchen, so being a picky eater, it's nice to make my own meals rather than eating in the dining halls. Lastly, I am lucky enough to have my own bathroom and shower, which is obviously the greatest detail of all. While my dorm in IC's West Tower during my first year was a wonderful fit, the Garden Apartments are much more suitable for my liking.
Instead of going further into the boring details of my time thus far back in Ithaca, like my dreadful 8 a.m. class, I'd rather talk more about the exciting times I've had over the past few weeks. I've spent weekend nights with my friends, bar-hopping and party-hopping until the night turned to morning. I've spent days swimming through Ithaca's Six Mile Creek and cliff jumping at 2nd Dam. I also got the chance to go to dinner in Collegetown at a restaurant that I have been dying to try for the past year. It was a wonderful time, filled with amazing company, great conversation and delicious macaroni and cheese.
While this is only the start of my second year here in Ithaca, I can already tell that the next few months are going to be eventful.
In conclusion, while my summer was amazing, this school year seems like it's going to be even better. What are you looking forward to?
